Solent Tour 2026 - Tue 11th and Wed 12th August: Marchwood

It's been a couple of years since we visited Marchwood Yacht Club (MYC) so we thought we'd go along for two nights as part of our Solent Tour and re-aquaint ourselves with them. Their Clubhouse restaurant will be open so we can enjoy evening meals there on Tuesday, choosing from their Bar Menu and on Wednesday where we choose from their Visitor's Menu; see tickets below.

On Wednesday we will take a walk up the bank of the River Test to visit Eling Tide Mill, a fascinating and charming experience.

In the evening, whilst we are enjoying a "bring a bottle" pontoon party there will be a Partial Solar Eclipse!  It's very important to make sure you're using the correct equipment to watch this fascinating event - make sure you buy the proper glasses certified to ISO 12312 - 2  or 12312 - 2:2015.  The good news is you can pick them up very cheaply and easily on-line, 2 pairs of cardboard frames goggles cost only £4.99. After the  fun of the Eclipse some of us will retire to the Clubhouse to enjoy a meal from their Visitor's Menu. The full cost is £25.95 and you can pay the balance on the night.

Once people are booked, we will set up a WhatsApp group where we can discuss options based on the weather.  Jem Nicholls will be Rally Lead and will be available to help with questions and bookings, and there are a number of other roles (see Duty Roster below) where we need volunteers to help make the rally more enjoyable. Please take a look and if you can help with a role just click on "Volunteer" or get in touch with events@haslaryachtclub.co.uk and we can explain more details.

As you approach call in on Ch 37 (also known as M or M1) and the Club Officer of The Day will be on hand to assist with mooring. Some rafting of boats will be necessary. We advise monitoring on Ch11 (Portsmouth Harbour) and Ch 12 (Southampton VTS) as appropriate together with Channel 16.
