Southsea Marina mid-week Rally 2025

Southsea Marina

This is another 'first' for the Club as we have not visited Southsea Marina before. As you may know, the marina is protected by an automatic cill gate, which raises and lowers to control the height of water inside.   With HW Portsmouth at 13:19 BST on 9th this should give plenty of opportunity to access this charming marina within Langstone Harbour.  

The Marina free-flow access times are:-

  • Tuesday 9th September  10:12 to 16:12
  • Wednesday 10th September 10:51 to 16:51

There will be a visit to Portsmouth Lifeboat Station, which is an easy walk from the Marina, on the Tuesday afternoon at 3pm.  Brian Masters will host this as he is the Visits Officer.

We have booked the on-site Bombay Bay Indian restaurant for a rally meal at 7pm.  The Bombay Bay is well known for its Indian cuisine. There is also the Marina Bar on site which serves a wide variety of traditional dishes if you prefer.

A lead boat will be available to help and advise.  We normally create a rally WhatsApp group so that we can keep in touch and share notes on progress.

This is the skipper of the boat. We need this to ensure that there are enough berths for the boats.

DECLARATION BY YACHTS PARTICIPATING IN HYC EVENTS
Yachts taking part in events organised by Haslar Yacht Club do so on the understanding that they participate entirely at their own risk. The decision to set out or to continue to take part in an event is solely the responsibility of the skipper and crew who, understanding the risks, are responsible for their own safety both on the water and ashore.

Nothing in the notice of the event, the sailing instructions or elsewhere shall reduce that responsibility, neither will any actions or omissions of any Officers and members of HYC.

By taking part in the event, you declare that the boat and crew are fit for the conditions that they are likely to encounter., that you accept your responsibilities as outlined above, and that the boat is insured with cover of at least £2M against third party claims.

It is the responsibility of the Skipper to ensure Covid-19 rules in force at the time of the rally are adhered to by themselves and their crew.
