Yarmouth weekend Rally 2025
Yarmouth weekend rally 2025
Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July
This is a 2 night rally as during the high season Yarmouth specify that club rallies start on Fridays. The 7 spaces together available to us are now all booked.
More boats can be accommodated within the rally, but you will have to take your chance with a berth allocated a berth on a "first come - first served" basis by calling the harbour on VHF Ch 68 as you arrive. You will be berthed where they can fit you in and not necessarily with the main rally group, and in the worst case it may be on a buoy outside. The berthing crew are very helpful and will guide you in and can even help with a gentle push to get you berthed.
We visit the often very busy harbour of Yarmouth most years and always enjoy this lovely spot. There is often excitement to be had in watching other people manoeuvre!
Friday evening: we will be holding a pontoon party at some point on the Friday evening but as we expect members to arrive at various times we will leave it to you to sort your own dining arrangements that evening.
Saturday evening: last year we visited the Royal Solent Yacht Club and the food and service were excellent so we have booked a repeat visit, on Saturday 12th at 19:00. Service is planned for 19:30 to allow time for you to purchase drinks at the bar.
With HW Portsmouth at 13:02 BST on 11th July this should give you a favourable tide down the Solent towards Yarmouth. As a 2 night rally you will have a full day on Saturday to enjoy the Western IOW - see below for suggestions. You have the option of extending your stay past the weekend by direct arrangement with the harbour office. Unless you pre-book the nights on their website, which is always limited & difficult, this will only be possible once you are in Yarmouth. However once you are in you should be ok although you may need to move berth.
Things to do in and around Yarmouth include:
Take a walk along the bank of the River Yar to Freshwater Bay.
The Hop-On Hop-Off bus to the Needles. This takes you to the Dimbolar Museum (art & photography gallery) at Freshwater and the Needles Battery (free for National Trust members)
Carisbrooke Castle (free to English Heritage members). The bus to Newport (30 minutes) drops you in Carisbrooke village and the Castle is a 10-15 min walk up the hill.
The River Yar walk via the Red Lion
Yarmouth Castle (another EH property)
